Next steps to becoming a Global Leader:
Where to from here?
International assignments are regularly cited as a critical experience in the development pathway to becoming a global leader. Research by international business coaching expert Padraig O’Sullivan captured in his upcoming book “Global Leaders in Australia: How to transition and lead successfully”, reveals that between 25-45% of expatriate leaders fail and stall their career during their first overseas appointment.
Padraig’s research shows that some reasons are obvious in nature and can be planned for, however many reasons for failure are due to deep held assumptions the leader holds, unknown to themselves.
During his session at the ELM Forum Padraig shared:
- The top six reasons why expatriate leaders fail in their first assignment.
- How emerging leaders understand how to best prepare for overseas roles.
